The 35 metres tall rock is considered to have been the place of the castle over Sloup, but it is not certain from the preserved traces whether it was indeed a castle or just a refuge for the locals. The mediaeval structures, whose remainders can be found on the summit of the rock, were most likely used as a shelter in war times. Most of the spaces carved in the rock originate in the turn of the 17th and 18th centuries, which was also when the hermitage was built. The castle is a listed monument.
