Děčín – “Sheep Bridge”

A small bridge over the brook Jílovský potok from 1561. Its construction was initiated by Günter of Bünau, who wanted to extend the pastures for his sheep. The bridge has unusually tall arches, whose most likely purpose was to protect the bridge from floods. According to legends, however, the bridge was built in this manner to prevent the local farmers from taking their carriages across because they had refused to participate in the construction of the bridge.
