Děčín - Castle

The castle of Děčín rises on a steep rock above the city, on the junction of rivers Elbe and Ploučnice, belonging to the mmost important historical memorials of Northern Bohemia. During the past the castle was used as nobility residence, military fortress and center of several noble families/houses. Among its visitors you can find many celebrities, ranking from important european rulers to various artists. For example Fryderyk Chopin composed his waltz As-dur during his stay here, also called Děčín waltz.

Thanks to a large reconstruction the castle is slowly regainiing back its past beauty. Visitors can walk through past owners' apartments now, enjoy a lovely view of the city below, as well as let themselves become enchanted by the Rose garden's incredible atmosphere.
