Albrechtsburg (Meissen)

The Meissen castle in Albrechtsburg has been used as museum and memorial to Saxon history and history od saxon noble clans since 1881. Built in late gothic style  it managed to keep most of  its inner decorations and furnishing from the 19th century intact. There are 128 rooms in there, which cover over 9,000 square meters.  The castle often hosts various social events such as exhibitions, concerts, theatrical performances and medieval fairs. German and English audioguides are available.  Special tours and school student tours can also be organized. The castle is completely barrier-free accessible (elevator). Since 1995 the castle has undergone a reconstruction, which was funded by the Saxony state.
